I will refer to my own education as a mature learner of a foreign language. My degree in English language will also be applied. Lessons can be designed to assist the individual. If the students are learning on a more casual basis then the lessons can be aimed at learning more everyday content. If the student wants to learn for work or education, we will formulate a learning style that is more focused on this. I am all too aware of how much more challenging it can be to learn a second language in later life. Comprehension is often easier to get to grips with than the speaking element. I want my students to know that with practice they will achieve their goals. I know that if I have students on a one to one basis, it can be very intensive. My aim is to work with the students in creating an environment that is informal and yet informative. I am currently studying for a diploma in teaching English as a second language and so will be able to put into practice everything that I have learned so far. However, I feel that this qualification is secondary to my wealth of knowledge and experience. As someone of advanced years, a mother of two career successful children and passion for all languages, I know my abilities to become a successful tutor are as much dependent on my life experiences and skills, than the qualifications I worked hard to achieve in the past four years.
