Advert description
I am a PhD psychology student with over 6 years of experience preparing materials and delivering highly engaging and interactive lectures, seminars, and academic skills sessions to a diverse group of BSc and MSc students, in blended learning sessions. In the online workshop sessions, which are geared towards closing the attainment gap for disadvantaged students, I signpost relevant academic resources and services and provide advice on how to find such resources. Applying Vygotsky's theory, I employ reciprocal teaching, during sessions, to improve students' ability to learn from academic texts, through collaboration in learning and practising key skills such as summarising, questioning, clarifying, and predicting. Supervising student-directed BSc and MSc final year dissertations and projects, I run one-to-one blended (online and face-to-face) sessions where students provide an update on status of project, with the aim of monitoring students’ progress. In these sessions, I also assist and support students in identifying their strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, give encouragement and signpost academic and supplementary resources, such as support services, with the aim of helping them find their potential.
Passionate about learning and teaching, I feel that I would be an excellent candidate for this position and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this role in more detail.
