Dear Students

I am a Maths teacher from Athens Greece. I hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from the National College For Teaching and Leadership (Department of Education – England). I hold an MSc in Meteorology from the University of Reading UK.
I have worked with students of different backround knowledge, ability and confidence to stay on the task and in the case of maths, quickness. In every maths class I have taken, there have been slow children, average children and whiz kids. It never ocured to me that this hierarchy might be avoidable. No doubt maths comes more easily to some people than to others. But the question is: Can we improve the methods we use to teach maths in schools so that everyone to develops proficiency? During my working years, I have strengthened my critical judgement and self-confidence because I desired to help my students more effectively.
The job of a teacher is not to get up in front of a class and just talk, it is to teach students something they feel they want to learn or at least must learn. And one of the greatest challenges of being a maths teacher is how to find effective ways to motivate the students and arouse their interest in the subject. It can stimulate moments of pleasure and wonder for all pupils when they solve a problem for the first time, discover a more elegant solution, or notice hidden connections. The role of a teacher is as well that of a “knowledge donor”. In the mathematical field, it is important for a teacher to have the abillity to connect mathematical concepts with everyday examples. In general, the essence of Mathematics is different to this of Physics or Chemistry. These sciences use the experiment and the observation as their basic tools. But mathematical science differs. For example, you cannot conduct an experiment using instruments, if you want to explain why the interval (0,1) has infinite numbers.
I understand that there are many incentives to encourage talented, knowledgeable people to apply for this Maths Teacher job. I want to offer my scientific knowledge to students in order to inspire and encourage them to achieve their goals both educational and social. My constant aim in life is to develop myself both personally and professionally. I like quality in life and in my working environment.
Teachers are like second parents to pupils, so in my opinion
