Advert description
I studied Fine Art at university and I’m a self-taught portrait painter, so my teaching approach blends both a solid academic grounding and hands-on experience. My lessons are ideal for beginners to intermediate learners who want to build confidence in portrait painting and colour mixing. I put a big emphasis on colour theory, as I believe understanding how colour works is key to painting well.
While my main focus is on portraits and colour, my background in Fine Art – along with my full-time role at Tate – means I can also bring in wider context, introducing students to different art movements and artists that might suit their style or spark inspiration. I like to tailor sessions to each student, whether they’re after technical skills like mixing accurate skin tones or looking to develop a more expressive, personal style. It’s all about helping people find their flow and enjoy the process.
