Teaching Philosophy

I view myself primarily as a facilitator of learning, rather than as an expert who simply delivers information to students. When planning a curriculum or interacting with students, I am always conscious of their different interests, learning styles and rates, what they have already learned and what they will need to learn in the future. Feedback from students has been vital to the process of growth I have undergone since I began teaching: I learned from them, for example, the pacing of lectures, and effective ways to help them learn in small group discussions. Solvings problems and perfoming taks have been part of the methodoloy used in my teaching plans. I am familiar with them. I really enjoy using these methods due to their results and I have seen how students gain confidence.
I am fortunate to teach English in a university, which prepares future teachers, where I can follow the progress of the students through the program and sometimes beyond graduation. I incorporate technology in my classroom.  Today’s generation is immersed in the rapidly changing world of technology.  There are so many opportunities available at our fingertips if we would just put them to use. 
As I gained experience and confidence as a teacher, I came to regard teaching as my primary professional responsibility. Consequently, I moved into areas of administration and faculty development. My current position as Coordinator of a Master Program legitimizes my efforts to effect changes in the teaching curriculum, and places me where I can have an influence on the "learning climate" of the teaching context. I am able to help you develop the Spanish or English language. Several years ago, I began to be interested in the theoretical background for teaching and learning. I have attended meetings, workshops, and distance-education diplomas to learn about this.
Additionally, I am part of a Journals’ Board. This experience has enriched the way I perceive research in education. I have had the fortune to work with several researchers that influenced my view about the importance of investigation for the teaching and learning process. I can help in the area of Academic Writing and project development. Another area that I work with in the Board is as a translator.
