Experienced In-person Piano Tutor! Former RNCM Student tutors to Grade 8. Second-year Imperial Physics student with First in Mathematics

Advert description
My name is Juan Rajagopal - I am 19 years old and a second-year Physics student at Imperial College London. I completed a Mathematics degree with First-Class Honours from the Open University during A-levels. I am an experienced piano tutor, with 80+ hours under my belt, but also tutor maths, physics and chemistry up to A-Level. I have taught students ranging from 4 to 20 and it has developed into a passion of mine, despite being uncertain at first if I would keep it up!

Piano was always a hobby of mine since I was young, hence I was ready to start Grades when I was 6 and eventually completed my Grade 8 in Piano at 10. I think what really drove me was my teacher's passion and the belief she had in me that I could really be accelerated this quickly. She serves as my inspiration when I teach today.

I then attended the RNCM from-on Saturdays, learning piano to a diploma level supplemented by music theory, improvisation and composition lessons. It is an opportunity I am most thankful for and it is here that I learned a lot of my techniques and style from my teacher, Matt Kam.

After this I have continued to learn new pieces by discovering new repertoire and techniques by trial-and-error. I restarted piano lessons again recently under the concert pianist Alvin Moisely. I hope to be able to perform Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Imperial Orchestra some time in the future!

I strongly believe that I can offer you the best I've learned through all my teachers, and through experience I have learned to teach effectively. Whether you're young or old, you're not too young or too old. I think this is the most important thing, as I think that having interest and gaining pleasure from playing piano ensures that you will learn quickly. It is my job to give you help you discover this enjoyment!

We will use the first free lesson to discuss what you, as the student, would like to get out of the lessons. We can go through any specific areas you might wish to improve upon, or if you don't know yet, there's no need to worry! I can always set out a lesson plan in order to discover yourstrengths and weaknesses or if you're starting out completely new, we can begin with the crucial foundation steps in order to accelerate your learning.

If you have any more queries, please do not hesitate to contact me!
