I have 2 years of tutoring experience, having taught Maths to students between the ages of 4-18. I mainly tutor and train students to excel in their upcoming GCSE and A-Level Maths exams.

For each student, my aim is to master their exam technique, problem-solving, and time awareness. Past exam questions are the best way to practice their exam technique, and in my sessions, the student will go through a series of past exam questions, as well as go through any knowledge gaps with myself for any topic.

This is my guide for each lesson:

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

Greet the student and ask about their day
Briefly review the previous lesson and identify any areas where the student struggled
Clearly state the learning objective for the current session

2. Direct Instruction (20-30 minutes)

Clearly present the new mathematical concept, using a variety of visual aids, examples, and hands-on activities
Encourage the student to ask questions and actively participate in the learning process
Check for understanding by asking the student to solve related problems or explain the concept in their own words

3. Guided Practice (20-30 minutes)

Provide the student with a set of related problems to solve, either individually or with guidance
Monitor the student's progress, offering assistance and feedback as needed
Encourage the student to apply the concept in different contexts

4. Independent Practice (10-15 minutes)

Provide the student with a set of independent problems to solve
Allow the student to work independently, but be available to answer any questions that may arise
Review and Assessment (5-10 minutes)

Ask the student to summarize what they learned in the session
Evaluate the student's understanding by asking them to solve a set of related problems
Provide constructive feedback and praise for the student's strengths and areas for improvement

5. Conclusion (5 minutes)

Summarize the key takeaways from the lesson
Preview the next lesson and set a clear goal for the student to work towards
End the session on a positive note by acknowledging the student's progress and effort.
