Advert description
I have worked in a variety of schools and have vast knowledge across the geography curriculum. I get most excited teaching the human side of geography such as urban environments and economic development, but throw in some coasts and earthquakes - that makes me happy too! My teaching style is unique, I have a strong sense of humor and make learning memorable. I believe this is the trick, and it works every time. You will not find any monotone or didactic teaching here.
I have been teaching Geography for just over 10 years, with a very successful track record of helping students to gain more confidence in exams, lessening their anxiety and helping them to achieve above expected grades. I have taught in a variety of secondary schools as well as private tutoring.
I will skip the teacher jargon surrounding metacognition, pedagogy etc. With 10+ years experience, it's very much embedded in my teaching. As a parent/carer all you need to know is that my tutoring style is unique in that it focuses on how to approach the exam, that pivotal moment at the end of a GCSE. I teach my students how to take control in an exam with confidence and the results can be transformative. I help my students by:
- Training them in how to “think” like an examiner.
- Showing them how to pull apart and breakdown exam questions, therefore understanding everything they need to do to get the marks.
- Giving clear structures to follow, specifically for 6 and 9 mark questions so they will always know what to write and how to set out their work.
- Teaching them a specific writing style which will give them confidence in their answers and will show an examiner that they know what they are talking about.
- Sharing tips and tricks on how to maximise time management in exams.
- Showing them how to gain quick points on easy mark skills questions - and the trick questions to look out for!
- Familiarising them with mark schemes, so in an exam they will feel confident in exactly what is needed to impress the examiner.
- Sharing easy revision exercises for learning and memorising information.
I have a full and current DBS so that you can be confident in a safe and professional learning environment.
