Advert description
I am a native English speaker with strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills developed through a diverse range of experiences. As a youth netball coach, I led training for players aged 8–18, adapting my approach to suit different ages, learning styles, and confidence levels. I focused on building positive relationships, clear communication, and creating a fun, encouraging environment—skills that transfer directly to tutoring. I was honoured to receive a Coach of the Year award, with three of my four teams winning their leagues.
Currently, I am studying MSc Physiotherapy at Cardiff University, where I regularly work with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I also grew up in Hong Kong, giving me first-hand insight into multicultural environments and the communication challenges faced by those learning English as a second language. These experiences have made me patient, adaptable, and able to explain concepts clearly in an engaging and respectful way.
My previous role as a project coordinator strengthened my time management, planning, and professionalism—skills which support my ability to deliver well-structured, effective lessons.
In my teaching, I take a student-centred, relaxed, and supportive approach. I aim to create an environment where learners feel confident to practise without fear of making mistakes. I tailor sessions to individual goals, using conversation, vocabulary-building, reading and listening tasks, and grammar support to keep lessons interactive and relevant. I also believe in setting clear, achievable goals and using positive feedback to track progress and maintain motivation.
