Since graduating I have gained professional experience in personal statement, Oxford interview, and academic tutoring. I believe tutorials should help a student to understand difficult concepts rather than learning how to repeat a method. In this sense, I like to focus sessions on improving the student's ability to problem solve and think independently and originally. For university interviews, this would involve guiding discussions around critical topics in Earth Science, allowing the student to expand their knowledge and apply it to unfamiliar situations. I encourage the student to engage with sessions as much as possible to increase their confidence in answering difficult questions and improve their ability to articulate their thought process as they learn and explore the subject.
