I went to school for Mass Communications Studies at the Central University of Venezuela. I've got over 23 years of experience being a fluent Spanish speaker and 6+ full years of actually knowing how to correctly express myself in such a beautiful language.

Culture, traditions and popular songs could be a great starting point to connect to a language, and those who speak it to those interested in persuading such task.
