Advert description
I have been passionate about languages since I began learning French and German at school, and I went on to study Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Spanish) at the University of Cambridge.
I also lived and worked in French-speaking countries for two years. This experience - which included living in five different locations around the country - gave me first-hand experience of the culture, geography, social norms, and language trends in France.
I am a qualified Teacher of French, with ten years’ experience of teaching in schools at all levels, from beginners to Oxbridge entrance. I have worked in leading independent schools as Head of French and Head of Modern Languages, so I am experienced at designing and delivering language courses for learners across the age and ability spectrum. In both schools I gained extensive experience of helping students to achieve the very best possible GCSE and A-level grades.
Prior to training as a teacher, I worked as a strategy consultant for a large global consultancy, and I also ran a specialist educational consultancy advising Oxbridge applicants on how to navigate the admissions process.
I currently teach adult education classes close to my home in the Peak District, working with both beginners and advanced learners. I am also an active tutor within the home educating community, which is an area of particular interest as I partially home educate my own son.
I enjoy the opportunity to share my passion for French with learners of all ages, and to help demystify the language so that students can gain confidence; further their knowledge and understanding; and enjoy using their new language skills for travel, work and friendship.
