As someone who has experience tutoring up to A-level maths, I would first give them the reins- ask them if there was any problems they had in particular and help them with those- if not, then we would go through general material, and I’d let them attempt the questions, but make it clear I’m there to help, and will give little nudges of information or ask them certain questions so they come to the right conclusions themselves. To let them figure out the issue with assistance rather than to tell them everything
