PhD student with 3 years GCSE maths tutoring experience, both online and in-person

I have previously tutored GCSE maths whilst completing my previous degrees with great successes. I like to keep the sessions student led with the student initially identifying they feel are a weakness. We will usually start a session by going through some recap questions from the previous session and then moving onto either a progression of the previous session or a new topic. The session will consist of going through practise questions as I am firm believer that the best way to learn is by doing. To start, I will help guide the student through the questions and gradually reduce the amount of help I give so that the student is confident that they can do the questions independently.
There will be regular mini quizzes and tests to help identify areas of strengths and weaknesses. I feel it is important to work on both the strengths and weaknesses of the student as to help boost a weakness and further a strength. It is important to focus on both as it can help boost the students confidence when they find a topic that they enjoy and are good at.
