Italian Tutor

Advert description
I am an Italian national who lives in Bristol since August 2012 (Bradley Stoke). Before moving to UK, I worked as Italian teacher for foreigners (i.e. students who have participated in multi-cultural exchange programs like Erasmus. E.F., etc) as well as private Italian teacher. I can easily adapt myself to new circumstances. While in Italy, I also owned and run a bookshop where used to organise Italian lessons together with a wide range of cultural events (i.e. book presentations, lectures, etc.). Furthermore, I also worked as a tourist guide in Rome. The experience gained in this job was very worthful and so allowed me later on to get to know how to organise and manage cultural trips with my students in the UK. For example, we are planning to go to Italy for four days in October (adult students only) for a full immersion experience. Regarding my experience teaching with teenagers in Swindon, I must say that all my students have always achieved good marks, despite Italian not being their mother language.
I often work in a team with other colleagues and we use to share our methods, ideas and experience in order to make our lessons more effective.
While teaching adults I always try not only to share my knowledge in Italian but also to motivate the students and create lessons that can be of their interest. I always take into consideration their personal interests because in my opinion, most of the textbooks are often too generic. For this reason, I often prepare and use my own teaching material. In order to create interesting and enjoyable lessons, I prepare my didactic material using Microsoft Power Point, adapting my lessons to each group and creating different contents for different groups. I do believe this is the key to my success, as more and more new students enrol in my courses every time. (Actually, I currently manage 11 different groups and 23 students privately, all of them in different levels, and also run a business course, included A level, GCSE).

A few years ago I enrolled myself in a workshop organised by the University dedicated to the choice and use of scenes from Italian movies for a better understanding of the Italian lifestyle. This experience has shown to be quite useful for my teaching of the Italian culture.
