Geography tutor currently studying geography at the University of Bristol with experience as a environment and climate consultant

Advert description
I am writing to apply for this geography tutoring job. I am in my final year of a four-year undergraduate geography (BSc) degree at the University of Bristol. I also plan to apply for a masters in sustainably, management, and business economics at the University of Barcelona.
I have returned recently from a year of working and studying in Seoul, South Korea. My internship was at an environment and climate consultancy firm, and the company provided solutions to water-based climate disasters. During the internship, I co-authored a project concept paper for the implementation of early warning hydro-met flood defences in Tajikistan, set to be submitted to the World Bank in 2024. Alongside this, I co-authored and presented a proposal to clients in Indonesia intending to change water legislation and grant more power to local authorities. As a native English speaker, I quickly became the company's lead presenter abroad and edited all the project proposals. This gifted me a far more significant role than I would have acquired at other internships. In Korea, I also completed a two-semester exchange at Seoul National University, the most prestigious university in the country. I chose a wide range of subject areas, from East Asian national security strategy to modelling more sustainable energy usage in Chinese and American cities. My most exciting assessments were a policy brief on how South Korea should deal with North Korean aggression and a 40-minute presentation detailing the Japanese national security strategy.
My experience abroad, which has also included extensive international travel in Asia and South America, has helped me become a confident and self-assured individual. I have also become a very clear and effective communicator, as I have rarely been with native English speakers. These skills are transferrable to any workplace as I can quickly grow, adapt and maintain friendly and effective relationships with all colleagues in a team, anywhere in the world.
