Having been a Self-Employed Piano Tutor between May 2021- Nov 2022 alongside my role in marketing & sales (details on CV) I possess some extremely valuable traits adaptable to a primary tutoring role. Firstly, I have a motivating presence and positive attitude towards learning and development, working on a 1-1 basis. I gained the ability to adapt to different student’s needs as well as provide a trusting, empathetic, fun and engaging environment. As a tutor I always valued the importance of honesty; I would be sure to outline work which was good and work which needed more attention, setting goals for the following lessons. Additionally, I am a highly motivated, proactive individual with proven interpersonal skills, having graduated from university in 2020 with a BA English Literature degree (2:1). With this in mind, I will bring a passion for learning, valuable techniques and the ability to create engaging resources for student’s success. Not only that, I will provide a caring, compassionate approach to student’s general wellbeing and emotionally support them whilst overcoming barriers. All of these factors are just a brief taste of how I will teach and engage. Working in a marketing and sales environment (CV) has meant I’ve gained a variety of in-depth, versatile skills which I’d be delighted to bring to my next tutoring role. For example, I’ve gained excellent communication skills: client-relationship management, the ability to listen, create positive outcomes and deliver customer-focused care. With this at the centre of my work ethic, I will play a pivotal role in understanding the needs of students whilst providing personalised support and guidance, ultimately for their overall success. Additionally, I’ve gained great office-related skills. I am extremely organised; able to prioritise tasks, structure data, keep track of steps-in-progress and lead projects to completion. I am also IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and flexible in work content. These factors will aid tutoring when overseeing student’s progress, delivering engaging tutorials or developing pastoral resources. My role in marketing and sales required daily targets; I had to ensure I brought in a certain number of new clients and bookings per day. With this in mind, I will make a successful target-setter, able to clearly outline ways a student can achieve and progress.
