Advert description
Whilst I don't have any professional English as a foreign language qualifications, I am confident in my ability to teach this language, especially as a bilingual person. As I am self-taught in English, I feel that not only can I approach teaching from an academic standpoint useful for studies, but also from a social standpoint which is often neglected in teaching another language. I have a varied understanding of different language structures, as I myself have been learning other languages throughout the years, and I feel this knowledge will help provide personal insights on how to approach English on a more personal level.
In my spare time, I engage in an extensive amount of reading and writing, largely fictitious work both in English and Romanian (my native tongue). I grew up in a Romanian-Hungarian household, and also spent a few years learning Hungarian, a language which has a very different grammar structure and form from English and many Romantic languages or those with Latin origin. It was challenging but it enabled me to consider how to approach a language very dissimilar from English in the future. I am currently learning Italian (and have been for the past 6 months), which is a language of Latin origin. I am hoping to further develop my Italian at university.
For my A-Levels, I studied English Literature, which is a subject I will also be continuing at university and therefore I am confident in my ability to express myself in an academic manner in English. I tend to be quite social in my spare time also, allowing for my conversation skills in English to be at a reasonable level. I am also constantly looking for ways to improve my current level of English, and I believe teaching the language will not only be helpful to someone else but will also benefit me in my need for improvement.
I have no prior professional tutoring expertise, however being mostly self-taught and frequently helping those around me with English (e.g. assisting my father with writing a formal work email) I am confident in my ability to teach English as well as excited to help others with their learning journey, as I am aware of how difficult it can be without outside support. I am genuinely hoping to have the opportunity to provide that support for someone.
