Tutor for GCSE, A level, Higher Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology

Advert description
I am your Biology teacher from across the world, from India. After school, which had me going strong for Biology, I joined St. Xavier's College Kolkata for my Bachelors in Microbiology Major, with Physics and Chemistry as minors. I started doing hands-on research from this point. I then travelled 2000 kilometres away to Madurai to study the Genomics (which deals with Genetics, but in a much broader sense). My interest in Neuroscience and specially to understand "why do we get depressed or anxious?", I went about to do my PhD in neuroscience from IISER Pune (one of the top 6 prestigious research institutes in India). At my postdoctoral research time in Denmark, too I took the opportunity to teach not only Bachelor students, but also at postgraduate and PhD levels. Even now, as a scientist in a company, I make the most out of my time working with industry interns and PhD students.

Since graduation, I have taught students under 1-on-1 settings, and specially since the Madurai days I started teaching students in classes of 20s, 30s and more. I have taught classroom full of students in subjects like Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Neuroscience etc. While I have taught many levels of students I enjoy training young minds and train them to find interesting questions and figure out a way how to answer them. In my experience of helping students prepare for Standardized Tests, we find a lot of fun (with remarkable advancements) while prepping for the previous year exam questions where I get to teach them how to relate concepts from more than one areas of knowledge and applying critical thinking. I am a firm proponent of 'understanding and imbibe what you learn' education, believing it to be an absolute necessity and basic requirement for life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students.
In my spare time, I enjoy taking online courses myself on various topics ranging from Finance to Astrology enriches my life. Plus time spent with my daughter gives me a sense of bliss.
