I tutor students by firstly having an open discussion on what they want to achieve and what type of learning style they would prefer. I would then adapt to their preference and set out a detailed structure on the topics that we will discuss. I teach people through having discussions rather than “spoon-feeding” them as I find it far more effective as long as it is within the relevant topics.
