In the first session, I ask the student what topics they would like to focus on. If they do not have a clear idea on what these are then I briefly go through the subject specification so that the student knows what the course requirements are. Then, I go through a lesson and exam questions to gain a better understanding of the student's level so that I can tailor lessons that help them in achieving their targets. In the following sessions, I teach a topic and allow the student to go through exam questions ensuring that they master the topic and are able to approach these types of questions in their final exams. Periodically, I set past exam papers as a test to not only allow students to learn the exam techniques but also to update my understanding of their level at the time of the test. This allows us to identify the goals achieved and set goals for the future.
