Throughout teaching my experience I've taught various strands of the Science National Curriculum at Key Stages three and four. In addition to this I have worked with students who are classified as SEND for example dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, SEMH and hearing impairments. For this reason, I have to adapt my teaching methods for the student’s individual needs. This role enabled me to understand how learning disabilities can affect children’s’ motor skills, language acquisition and cognition.
Upon working at my previous school behaviour management is the key skill that I have continuously developed, particularly my non-verbal cues such as my posture, my facial expressions and eye contact. My mantra for behaviour management is to be “Firm but fair” by this I mean I have clear rules and expectations when students enter my classroom and they are made aware of them, and when these rules and expectations are not met, I follow the correct behaviour management policies set by the school. also found that the students confided in me, which helped me build a strong, trusting relationship with them; thus, creating a safe space for them whenever they needed it.
I prepared detailed lessons with accordance to the mastery model answer and going through each point that the students needed to cover in the detailed answers. Thus, i was able use assessment to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils therefore promoting good outcomes and securing progress. This setting high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
