History: comprehension questions, lots of quizzes, word games, crosswords etc to revise vocabulary. I explain and try to elicit what the student thinks would have happened before I continue. I use a lot of photos if it’s 20th Century.
EFL: I use a lot of word games, role play/drama activities, ranking exercises, grouping exercises. I try make the students speak for a reason- real communication, not just ‘gap-fill’. I try and find authentic texts- news, short jokes, songs.
