Advert description
I am a 26-year-old final year PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University College Dublin (First Class Honours). I specialise in tutoring GCSE level Mathematics and Chemistry (In-person and online). I understand that exams can be a source of stress for many students, but with my 7 years of active study and research experience in universities, I’ve picked up a few effective strategies to tackle them. My goal is to not only help students excel academically, but also to instill a genuine interest and understanding in the subjects I teach.
I employ two primary strategies, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student:
Course Approach (Ideal for students who are struggling) - In this method, I supplement the student’s school learning by working through the course material with them. The focus is on addressing the student’s weaknesses and emphasizing key topics and exam questions to maximise their GCSE grades.
Question Approach (Suitable for students seeking an extra boost) - This approach is more flexible, allowing students to choose which topics or exam questions they want to cover. Typically, I encourage students to send me questions they find challenging throughout the week. During our tutoring session, I ensure that they can answer these questions and are comfortable with the corresponding course sections.
My ultimate aim is to create a supportive learning environment that empowers students to take charge of their education and achieve their academic goals.
