I have volunteered as a science teacher in India for underprivileged children for 1 year during my bachelors degree. This involved having tutor sessions with them twice a week to help solidify the basic concepts. I have also volunteered as a science lab technician for a day to encourage school children about the importance of biology and research in a lab. This experience has led me to believe I could be a good tutor and would like to explore this field further. A few of my strengths include time management, good communication skills, empathy, patience, positive mindset and attitude. I have a lot of in-depth subject knowledge along with practical skills, I believe I would be a good candidate for this position. I have had impeccable grades through my undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees, working in the lab has allowed me to solidify my research skills and also be a co-author on 8 publications. I would deliver a lesson, understand why has been grasped by the student and work on teaching them the rest by giving examples. I believe in the importance of notes and the flash card study method as well and would incorporate these. It is important to understand the needs of the student and will try to deliver the lesson based on their strengths and help solidify their foundations in various modules in biology.
