In my previous tutoring role, I worked with a diverse group of students, ranging from primary to A-level, each with different learning needs. My task was to help them grasp complex concepts, improve their grades, and build their confidence in the subject. To achieve this, I adapted my teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, using visual aids like diagrams for those who were visual learners, and offering practical problem-solving exercises for those who thrived through hands-on practice. I also regularly assessed their progress to ensure they were understanding the material. As a result, many of my students saw significant improvements, with some raising their grades by a full letter. One particular student, who initially struggled with motivation, became more engaged and confident, leading to better academic results and a more positive attitude towards learning. My approach centres on providing a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, ultimately fostering both their skills and self-confidence.
