For my lessons I will be placing a major emphasis upon interactive lesson plans in order to ensure student engagement at all times. We will collaborate on activities together as a class and I will later be set the a similar activity as homework to test students understanding of what is taught in lesson.Upon the completion of the homework I will be able to assess gaps in knowledge to look at in more depth with students.
An outline of how lessons will be formulated:
The lessons will begin with English Language revision in many forms eg learning key terminology, going through analysis techniques and different writing styles. This will then be applied to English literature where we will go through key texts applying the above knowledge in order to achieve the highest level of in depth analysis. In addition to this we will also go through some of the key contexts surrounding the texts.
During lessons I will address each of the Assessments Objectives (Aos) separately as I know that this is an area of confusion for many students and my aim is to cast a light upon any questions and queries students may have regarding the Aos. Alongside this I want make sure that students are aware of the mark scheme and how many points are awarded per Ao and what each Ao actually wants from you.
A major focus in lesson will be developing analytical skills as well as retaining key quotes and information. As a class we will create quote banks together pairing these key quotes together with in depth fragments of analysis. We will also look at key extracts from texts as well as unseen literature together. Another target area I will focus on addressing is poetry as I know this is difficult to grasp for most students.
