Advert description
I am a world renowned Irish fiddler and has won many awards and competitions including the All-Ireland Fiddle Championship (Under-18) in 2017. I am currently a junior at Boston College majoring in Economics and minoring in Music and Irish Studies. I am currently working as an Undergraduate Research Fellow for Boston College's Irish Studies department. I have a passion for traditional Irish music and have extensive knowledge not only in Irish fiddle but of Irish music in general including its history and cultural significance. I began teaching when I was 15 years old and have taught students of all ages and abilities. Having taken online lessons myself for over 10 years as a student and having taught remotely during the pandemic, I am well adapted to providing online lessons for students that live far away from me or students who can't make their lesson in person one week.
In our lessons, I will teach students how to learn music by ear and how to add ornamentation and variations to melodies. I am happy to teach students the music that I like to play, but I am also open to teaching any specific music that students would like to learn as long as it is within the realm of folk music. My teaching approach has a strong emphasis on listening and analyzing the music of other musicians in order to teach students how to identify flaws in their own playing and eventually become their own teacher. I encourage students to record their lessons and review them in between lessons, but this is not mandatory. Please reach out if you have any questions!
