In my class you can expect a lot of motivating energy and positive reinforcement. Everyone is capable of learning and the trick is to stay in the learning paradigm while identifying and shattering the metaphorical "wall" that is standing between the student and the concept. The structure of my class almost always goes: I do, we do, you do. I will teach/ present the lesson while providing constant checks for understanding along the way to ensure proper grasping of the lesson before moving on (depth of breadth). Then, we will practice the application of the concept/ topic/ lesson together as if you are the gymnast and I am the spotter. Finally, every class will end with the student proving mastery of the lesson on their own by completing an "exit ticket" which is a formative assessment.
Throughout my 8 years as a full time classroom teacher and 10+ years tutoring, I have found that this is the most conducive approach to mastering a concept. It is my passion to guide the youth to success and this strategy has proven incredibly effective. I can't wait to show you!
