I like to get to know my students personality first, their musical inclinations, their weaknesses and strengths and draw from that. I choose to hone the existing skills and build on their abilities and hence build their confidence first. I feel a student enjoys the learning experience much more if they are met with results early on. Also, to teach the style of music I can sense my student enjoys.
