I know that learning new information can be scary. The unknown is scary, for this reason I make it very clear how we are going to learn together from the start. We will not only learn but have fun doing so.


I would try to structure lessons as follows (I would change this for any reason and to suit a student's needs):

- Introduce ourselves.
- Share the plan for the overall lesson outlines so you know exactly what is coming, no surprises.
- Introduce the topic, see if any students have a connection to the topic already which would make the lesson more enjoyable.
- Complete the necessary reading or writing material, help you through each step to make sure you feel supported and like you are learning.
- We can talk about what follow up exercises will help you keep this new information and use it.
- Close the lesson.
