Advert description
I am 21 and currently studying music business at Berklee College of Music. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 and I have completed all of the ABRSM grades.
As I have taken many of the ABRSM exams, I have a lot of experience with how the exam runs and the curriculum. I have been teaching piano for 3 and a half years, mainly online but also in person. I have found that even with the online lessons I am still able to ensure that my students come out with distinctions and merits in their exams, proving that online works as well as in person.
During the lessons I focus on the ABRSM exams as well as incorporating the skills to learn how to play more modern and popular songs. Learning to play songs by ear and play chords is a skill that I love to teach as it enables the students to be more creative with their own playing. I have found that balancing current music or music that the student likes and the exam pieces keeps the love of music and piano alive. With regards to the exams, my focus is on scales and learning the pieces each week but also not neglecting the significance of the sight reading and aural that can sometimes be left to the end. My aim is to spark a love for music and the instrument so that the student continues to play beyond the exams and into their future.
