Learn Italian online: fun lessons to improve your knowledge

Since 2019, I have been employed by Aberystwyth University as an Italian Language Instructor in the Department of Modern Languages. I teach Italian language and culture to undergraduate students. I am also employed as an Italian teacher for the Lifelong Learning at Aberystwyth University. I teach several courses, from Italian beginners to improvers. I personally design, deliver and assess all the courses. In 2014, I moved to Manchester to do a PhD in Italian Studies. Here, I taught Italian at the International society and for La Academia, English to migrants through the Speak up project, and Spanish in primary schools. From the 2016 to the 2019, the University of Manchester employed me as a language tutor for a number of translation tutorials (audiovisual, commercial, literary, scientific translation, and translation for international organisations) for students who worked with the Italian-English language pair. I was also employed as supervisor and first marker for two MA dissertations in Audiovisual translation. I managed to guide these students towards a successful completion of their theses, providing high quality one-to-one supervision and offering them the theoretical but also pastoral support they needed.
This particular blend of experiences (working in international contexts, teaching various languages, professional and voluntary experiences outside the academia) gives me a unique perspective, which has proven to be extremely useful to cope with a wide range of difficulties connected to teaching. I have always managed to build a positive and stimulating working environment, successfully conducting teaching, supervision and assessment activities. Students appreciate my original and innovative teaching methods, as well as my willingness to help them. These successful experiences demonstrate that I am able to provide quality in teaching, to communicate material of a specialist nature, and to engage students’ interest and enthusiasm.
I am an extremely friendly and sociable person, which makes it particularly easy and pleasant to work with me. I always benefit from working in a team, believing that cooperation with others is essential to learn more and to improve not only as professionals, but also as individuals.
