Advert description
I have many years in the field of teaching, not just Italian but also music.
Having been in schools, colleges, community and private settings, as well as
an examiner, invigilator, and standards verifier, I have seen and met many
students from all walks of life, interacting with a variety of institutions, parents,
learning support staff, heads of services, and education providers.
I am a native Italian speaker who left Italy at the age of seventeen, immersing
myself in British life and language (both England and Scotland). becoming quickly
fluent in that language and for a while speaking very little Italian. From around 2006
I started looking at language work as a way to regain proficiency in my first language
which, to some degree, had become quite dormant and had lost much ground to
English.
I consider myself functionally bilingual, and my work as interpreter and translator
has provided me with the motivation to rebuild my Italian after years of neglect.
Now I make a daily exercise made of reading, listening to, speaking, and writing Italian, which means that I am much better able to keep abreast of changes to that language.
Since my mid-twenties I wanted to be involved in teaching, and I have now been in that field for two decades, and it is a varied, interesting, and often enriching career.
I would be very happy to share my love of language, of Italian culture, and of teaching
with you.
