The best qualities of a maths tutor include patience, excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a strong knowledge of the subject matter. A good maths tutor should be able to break down complex concepts into simpler terms and adjust their teaching strategies to fit the student's learning style, which is what I like to do. I understand that helping a student understand problems through their interests is the best way to help them.
