My lessons would consist of starting with an example of the method for the topic that we would be covering showing the student how you can approach the question (eg multiplication). Then I would use a work sheet with similar questions and work through these with the student, stopping and going over any parts they don’t understand. Finally, I would finish with a game or an online activity to show them the joy of the subject. I would not set any homework unless the student or parent would like me to as I am conscious about homework from school. All of my lessons are completely based around the student and what they want to cover and if one week they don’t want to do what I have planned or are asking for something specific then I am happy to cover that with them. I feel this is important as it is the student who should be getting the most out of this and I don’t want to feel like the tutor sessions are an extra chore on top of school. In terms of qualifications, I have a grade 9 (A**) in GCSE maths and also have taught younger children in my school before as well as my younger siblings. I babysit frequently so am used to working with children. My lesson style is flexible, I can do lessons online as they are easy to organise from anywhere but I am also happy to do in person lessons depending on where the student lives.
