I encourage the development of all aspects of the English language; expanding vocabulary, improving word choice, developing grammar and perfecting punctuation. Conversation skills written skills, the ability to analyse text and the ability to correct text all contribute to great literacy.
As well as proof reading to correct text and develop a writers work, I can effectively guide a student to analyse a variety of texts. I believe conversational skills are equally as important and being confident enough to use a wide array of vocabulary pushes an individual’s English skill level. I also believe encouraging both formal and informal use of the English language is important to set skills that can be used in day to day life.
I aim to take a flexible approach to advancing these skills. Finding the best learning technique for each individual to help encourage learning, wether that be through games, mind maps, looking at text about a subject of interest or practice exercises either written or conversational. For those already studying English I can work along side and compliment current learning in a way that works well for the student. For those already confident and looking to improve English fluency, I would look to work on more informal language that would be more commonly used amongst native speakers.
I feel English is a language that should be enjoyed. Learning and improving your English is so rewarding and never stops. Lesson structures are to fit each individuals needs to ensure the students optimal learning and enjoyment.
