I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Philosophy and reading is one of my hobbies. As a tutor, I would love to encourage adults to master the English language, enjoy reading and gain confidence in reading and conversing in English. After all, English is the most widely-spoken language in the world.
For more than seven years I have taught English to ESL (English as a Second Language) students for a non-profit organization in Michigan, USA. During that time I have taught adults from various countries, with varying degrees of proficiency in English. Interacting with students from different cultures and backgrounds makes teaching more enjoyable and rewarding. From stay at home mothers to new immigrants trying to find entry level jobs, lesson plans are tailored to meet their goals. Some need basic English to find a job, while others need better language fluency for job promotions. Still others learn English to successfully pass the United States citizenship test. All have the same goal, to understand and communicate fluently in English.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s specific needs and focus on basic grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, while building confidence to communicate effectively and fluently. Reading, writing, comprehension, speaking, and listening skills improve as one learns in a safe environment with an enthusiastic, and patient teacher who takes her job seriously, and will bring out the best in you!!
