About me

I am an experienced teacher ( of over 20 years). I have taught at 4 schools and at a further education centre and work as an examiner for two boards. My subjects are English Language and Literature ( from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5). As a tutor, I tend to specialise in GCSE and A Levels or essay skills for those doing A Levels in History, Politics etc.

I am an experienced teacher ( of over 20 years). I have taught at 4 schools and at a further education centre and work as an examiner for two boards. My subjects are English Language and Literature ( from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5). As a tutor, I tend to specialise in GCSE and A Levels or essay skills for those doing A Levels in History, Politics etc.

It's important that a student finds the way that works for them. One size definitely does not fit all and I adjust my lessons accordingly. I'm good at what I do because I enjoy it.

At the end of this year, I asked some of my private students what I was like as a tutor. Apparently, I am 'determined' and 'able to change if something doesn't work.' Oh, and 'very sarcastic.'

Zena is an exceptional tutor. She supported my son to the achieve Grades 6 and 7 in English language and literature when he had missed most of his GCSE schooling due to illness. He really had no confidence that he would pass his exams, but Zena has the gift of gaining her student’s trust and making her lessons enjoyable and interesting. She also clearly has a wealth of experience and expertise and a fantastic sense of humour. My son made amazing progress. He had initially only hoped to pass with 4s or possibly 5s, but was inspired and enabled by Zena to achieve much more! I would not hesitate to recommend Zena as a tutor!

She was really important for my A-level English. She made lessons fun and very understandable . Thanks Zena you really built my son’s confidence . He was able to apply the skills he learnt to all his A levels . He always found your advice helpful and your kindness so reassuring. Great to have support from someone who really knows how to get on with teenagers and get the best out of them.
