Regardless of age range and the level of English the student is, I will aim to divide time equally between writing, reading and oral work in the English language. Obviously if the student is stronger in one of these areas more than another we won’t be required to spend as much time studying it. Additionally, my goal is to boost the student’s confidence while learning English, encourage them to make mistakes, that way they can learn quicker! I will use the textbooks or books the parent/guardian or school requires/recommends me to use. I do have plenty of online materials and inspiration of my own but I am more than happy to adapt to what is necessary for the student. I am aware that being tutored can often be quite tedious and difficult which is why I also want to make the lessons as engaging and enjoyable as possible, that means not working on one single exercise for the majority of the lesson. I would set homework, as it’s good to keep consistent, but I would only set a bit, just a few minutes a day to keep it ticking over. I will recommend books and films I think would interesting to the students! Overall, I have plenty of core principles I stick to, but I am open to new ideas and ways of teaching as I am still fairly new to this field of work. For any enquiries to please email me at
