When a student first expresses interest in lessons, I arrange a call to discuss what they believe they need to work on the most. In addition, I like to meet with the parents to discuss arrangements and to ensure that I understand what they want their child to get out from these lessons.
Afterwards, I ask my students to go through a few questions in the topics they find difficult to gauge a better understanding of how they enjoy approaching questions as part of my philosophy is to not squash the child's creativity but instead give it a space to blossom, as is often the case in the schools.
The majority of my lessons will revolve around doing practice questions under supervision to give them the confidence to tackle them on their own.
However, the students are not limited to this method of teaching and are encouraged to bring in their own questions e.g. that they worked on during class that they don't quite understand.
I have been tutoring kids in GCSE/A-Level Maths/Further Maths for two years now and can say that I really truly do enjoy my work contrary to most private tutors who are looking for an easy wage. I believe that kids do not get the sufficient attention that is needed to truly understand all aspects of maths in schools. As a result, I believe that supplementing their education with private tutoring is an excellent way to boost their learning experience.
