Hi I’m Zakiyya, a tutor in GCSE/ Secondary school maths.

As someone who achieved an 8 in GCSE Maths and took Further Maths, I have a strong understanding of the curriculum and the challenges students face. As I just finished my GCSEs this year, I have a great understanding on the tips and tricks I had to find out myself to get them top grades, which the teachers don’t tell you ?? Being in year 10 I was sat on a grade 4 although in top set and it did feel demotivating, however with my own self taught revision plan, I managed to go up 4 grades to an 8 (5 marks off a 9) in the span of less than a year.?? These tips and skills I learnt are ones I want to share to those who may also be in the same position as I was and to anyone with an interest in improving their Maths.

In my lessons, I focus on making secondary school Maths (including GCSE) both clear and engaging. I structure each session to start with a brief recap of key concepts, followed by going through the content in detail by looking through examples and step by step instructions to answer the questions ??This would be finished by working through practice problems to apply what we’ve learned, as this is key to getting the high grades. I’ll explain each step carefully and use real-life examples to make abstract ideas more relatable.
I focus on problem-solving techniques, exam preparation, and ensuring you grasp the “why” behind each concept. My goal is to build your confidence, make the material approachable, and ensure you feel ready for your exams!! ????
