I am currently a second-year pharmacy student, and I have a strong academic background, having achieved all 7-9s in my GCSEs while attending a grammar school. Furthermore, I recently completed my A-levels in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry, so I have a fresh and thorough understanding of the exam preparation process.
My lessons are carefully structured around the subject specification to ensure comprehensive coverage of all required content. I usually begin with a quick introduction to the topic, providing an overview of what the students will be learning. I then present the content, often using pictures and diagrams to help illustrate key concepts and make the material more engaging and accessible.
However, I recognise that each child is different, so I adapt my resources accordingly. For some students, I might include more visual aids like pictures or diagrams, while others might benefit from more text-based materials. I also adjust the pace of the lesson to support each student’s individual needs, ensuring that they can follow along and understand the material thoroughly.
After covering the content, I check for understanding by using past paper questions. This allows me to assess how well the students have grasped the material and also familiarises them with the types of questions they might encounter in exams. I conclude each lesson with a summary of what they have understood and highlight areas where they require more practice.
In the following lesson, I make it a point to review any errors they made previously, ensuring that misunderstandings are addressed promptly. This approach not only reinforces their learning but also helps build their confidence as they recognise their own progress over time.
