My lessons are highly structured and highly tailored towards your goals. I use the CELTA methodology, which I have been trained in and have years of experience using in the classroom.
The CELTA method;
- Based on the communicative approach to English language teaching.
- Low Teacher Talk Time (TTT); No lectures or long-winded explanations in this classroom.
- Student Centred: You will be at the centre of the lesson. I aim to have you engaged and actively participating throughout the entire lesson.
- Guided Discovery: My job is to ask clever questions that get you to discover the language concepts for yourself.

The lesson structure will depend on what the objective is for that lesson as well as the assessment of your needs (done in the first meeting/lesson) and what we have agreed to prioritize. For example, you might have decided that your vocabulary and grammar as well as reading, writing and listening are all strengths, but you feel you need a lot more practice speaking, in order to work on your fluency and confidence. In this case we would be doing a lot of lessons where the main outcome is you more or less INDEPENDANTLY producing the target language in a discussion or roleplay by the end of the lesson. This type of lesson does not require you to complete any multiple choice practice tasks; you will instead simply be encouraged to remember only the most useful language and structural aspects that are relevant to the context and purpose of the task before being given the opportunity to use it for yourself with the tutor as a participant. You will then get feedback that will help you to understand what you did really well as well as where there is still more room for improvement.
