First I will arrange an initial consultation with you in which we will discuss the texts you're studying so I can create lesson plans. If you're not a GCSE student, we can discuss what you need help with specifically so I can tailor our lessons accordingly. Equally, we can use this session to familiarise ourselves with eachother and ask any questions we may have outside of academics. This consultation will be around 30mins and will be free of charge.
Our first proper lesson will revolve around your current knowledge. We will go through a list of language features and techniques and work through some creative writing. My current students have shown me that their vocabulary is quite limited - so I would be happy to share the vocabulary list with you as I have shared with them. Diversifying your language is vital to achieve higher marks! If you're not a fan of books/novels, I would strongly recommend reading any article or short story online based on your preference and pick out any words or phrases that you're unsure about. You can research its definition and aim to write a paragraph including some of this new language.
In our further lessons, I particularly like to find online worksheets and work through them in class - whether its analysing an extract and picking out key language techniques, or answering questions from past papers. I will also go help you with creating revision resources and figuring out which method helps you revise the best (mindmaps, flashcards, quizes, or a mix of all). Equally, we will go through paragraph structures to answer questions in exams and what you can do better/add to achieve higher marks. I have found many useful resources from my school days which I have photocopied and found to be popular with my current students.
I am happy to take lesson recommendations from students where I am willing to plan a lesson solely based on what you need me to help with. Just let me know! :)
