I'm a professional photographer, and I love to share my skills and knowledge - especially with those of you with kids - so you can capture those moments too, in a more artful way!
There is a logical flow of lessons but you can also dip in to choose the ones you need. Each lesson is 1 hour long via zoom, during which time we will go through the content via shared screen, and you will have a chance to ask questions.
You will then receive a link to a written copy of the course materials for your future reference.
There are also practical exercises to complete after each lesson, to experiment and cement your learning.
- understanding exposure and camera settings basics
- controlling movement with shutter speed
- delving into depth of field
- understanding light - quality, colour, direction
- understanding focus and its importance in storytelling
- composition basics - rule of thirds, leading lines, reading paths
- the impact of lens choice
- camera angles and perspectives
- the use of colour and black and white
- storytelling in photography
- advanced composition - framing, layering, negative space
- finding your artistic voice
- off camera flash basics
- you can also book a stand-alone image feedback session for your work
Specialisms:
- setting yourself up for success when working with kids and capturing those moments
- the basics of newborn photography (does not include complex posing or shooting for composites)
- the basics of product photography
- the basics of food photography
- Marketing a photography business
If you book more than one lesson, you can submit images before the next lesson, where constructive (but KIND!!) feedback will be given, before we move onto the next topic.
It is very important to practice the art of photographing, ideally daily!
