I work with children on a weekly basis and have experience of working with all age groups. I also have some brief experience of online one-to-one tutoring. What I have learned from working with young people is that the best way to engage with them is to treat them as an equal and speak to them as you would like to be spoken to. When both sides feel respected, it is easier then to understand where everyone stands and be able to move forward. This way, I prefer working as a team to reach what then becomes a united goal. I encourage learning as an experience and utilize many examples in my teaching. I am able to adapt my style to that of the student in order to best achieve results. The first lesson will be to figure out what type of support is needed. By centering on each student's abilities, interests, and learning styles, and letting the student lead, there is then better understanding and encouragement. I, as the teacher, will be a facilitator of learning and strive to help the student to the best of my abilities. I will encourage self-reliance and resourcefulness as well as build up the student's confidence in their own ability to prioritize their time and learn well.
