Creating positive environment with lots of encouragement Most students from my working institute are business professionals with busy daily schedules. In class, I apply feasible and achievable tasks which build up their confidence and let them feel a sense of accomplishment and ensure the process is creative and enjoyable. A collaborative approach helps them to maintain their interest in Chinese language and culture rather than feeling defeated and lost.
Communication is the key The format of my class is input followed by output. Firstly, I provide my students with a basic bank of words, phrases and rules of how sentences are built up together. As I believe language learning flourishes when it is relevant to a student’s interests. I identify subjects, themes and ideas relevant to their interests and create tailor-made materials. I engage my students with various kinds of communicative activities with real-world situations and spontaneous context. My classroom is always student-centered.
Specialising in cross cultural business understanding and communication Working with business people, I always combine language teaching with appropriate cultural background information to help my students develop their understanding of business cultures in China and promote their intercultural communication.
“Yunling teaches in a way of cooperating with us students and getting every student cooperating with each other to achieve the final goal of effective communicating in each class.” --A former student
