I have over 15 years experience teaching Japanese language and culture in the UK across all settings.
I have taught Japanese to primary school age groups to adult learners, across the private and public education sector.

Using songs, games, videos and films as well as Chikara materials for GCSE, Japanese for busy people for general/ business , Marugoto for JLPT and so on. I bespoke the lessons depends on the learner's demand.

I am involved in The British Association for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language - BATJ and supporting the drama method for language learning. My lesson is full of kinetic and fun and you will have a good laugh each lesson for sure!

I have a MA degree in Translation Studies and I practice as an interpreter and translator as well.
Therefore, my fascination of language is go further than just memorising grammar, vocabulary and sentences.
I emphasis that unmuting the learners' voice to be able to communicate from their hearts.

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.
If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” (Nelson Mandela)

We must open our minds and have a look at different aspects of the intersection between language and culture.
Therefore, I promise that you will learn Japanese language holistically and gain the deeper understanding of the language and culture which make you stand out from the others.

Let's start to have a fun learning Japanese together!

Yuka is a very friendly and easy to like tutor with a bubbly personality. It was always a pleasure to attend her classes and I always looked forward to them every week. Her teaching is excellent and the classes were always well structured, but also fun and engaging. I'm glad she didn't always stick rigidly to the textbooks for the entire class too; it made things feel more natural and fun which is what language learning should be in my opinion.

My son, Harry, and I attended Yuka's Saturday morning beginner's Japanese classes a few years ago. It was great fun! Yuka consistently created lessons that were practical and entertaining - very cleverly constructed. Highly recommended!
