As a teacher, I like to break down concepts by turning them into bite size chunks. To help my students memorise certain topics, I encourage my students to make flashcards and teach them memorisation techniques like: visualisation, effective note taking, repetition etc. I treat teaching the same way I treat learning, an effective teacher implies said teacher has a great understanding of their field. Which is something I would attribute to myself. My goal as a teacher is for students to love and appreciate
Mathematics, to excel in their exams and to discover something they didn't already know.
Now for Maths I like using textbooks as the questions gives a great impression on the student's level as well as their understanding which allows me to tweak and improve on my teaching. I also like engaging with the student taking in feedback as well as answering any questions that they have. I also like to give 'homework' to students like my own questions, questions from previous exams or fun exercises. WIth my students I also go through certain youtube videos (that have helped me as student) and recommend certain channels, to fully cement their understanding.
I only teach lessons online via (zoom), sessions are 1-2 hours long. In which students can have 15-30 minute breaks. My first session will be free of charge and It'll more a less be a survey to gauge the student's understanding and what they don't quite understand at the moment.
